OVERVIEW
The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner is PMI's agile credential, and the broadest one it awards. It does not test a single framework. It covers the agile approaches practitioners actually mix in delivery — Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP among them — which is why it reads as evidence of judgement rather than of one method learned by rote.
PMI restructured the exam with its March 2026 Examination Content Outline. There are now four domains: Mindset at 28%, Leadership at 25%, Product at 19% and Delivery at 28%. Mindset and Leadership together carry more than half the paper, so more than half the exam is about how you think and how you work with people, not which ceremony happens on which day.
PMI-ACP also asks for documented experience, unlike an entry-level credential. This programme delivers the 21 contact hours of formal agile training PMI requires before you apply, teaches all four domains, and keeps coaching you through the preparation weeks that follow.
Exam domains
Mindset 28%, Leadership 25%, Product 19%, Delivery 28%.
Questions, 180 minutes
Multiple choice, with one 10-minute break.
Contact hours required
This programme delivers all of them.
PDUs to renew
Every three years, of which at least 18 must be education.
The exam is administered by PMI, online or at a Pearson VUE test centre. We prepare you for it and support your application — we do not set or mark it.
Who it's for
It is written for people already working in or alongside agile teams who want a credential that covers more than one framework.
Holding a framework-specific certificate already, and wanting a credential that covers agile more widely.
Running predictive projects that have started to adopt iterative practices, with no formal agile grounding.
Working in agile teams and wanting the reasoning behind the practices, not only the routine.
An active PMP satisfies the PMI-ACP experience route on its own, so the training hours are what remains.
Accountable for delivery across teams that each work differently, and needing one vocabulary for all of them.
PMI-ACP REQUIREMENTS
A secondary school qualification, 21 hours of formal agile training, and one of four experience routes.
| Highest education | Project experience |
|---|---|
| Agile experience | 24 months of agile experience within the past 5 years |
| GAC-accredited degree | 12 months of agile experience, with a degree from a GAC-accredited programme |
| Existing agile certification | 12 months of agile experience, with a current third-party agile certification earned more than a year ago |
| Active PMP | 0 further agile experience required — an active PMP satisfies this route |
This programme provides the 21 hours, and PMI does not expire them — its own instruction is to record all training hours regardless of when they were accrued, so the certificate of completion stays valid for a later application. PMI's handbook also records project and agile team experience separately from the routes above.
Eligibility is assessed by PMI, not by ProCert. Not sure which route you qualify under? Send us your background on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly.

Questions
It is the credential to hold if your work spans more than one agile approach, because it is not tied to a single framework. It also carries an experience requirement, which a one-day framework certificate does not, so it says more about what you have actually done.
A secondary school qualification, 21 contact hours of formal agile training, and one of four experience routes: 24 months of agile experience in the past 5 years; 12 months plus a GAC-accredited degree; 12 months plus a current third-party agile certification earned over a year ago; or an active PMP.
PSM I assesses Scrum specifically and asks for no documented experience. PMI-ACP spans Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP, and requires experience you can evidence. If your teams only run Scrum, PSM I is the closer fit. If they run a mix, or you want a PMI credential alongside a PMP, PMI-ACP is.
120 multiple-choice questions in 180 minutes, including one 10-minute break. Since the March 2026 outline the questions are spread across four domains: Mindset 28%, Leadership 25%, Product 19% and Delivery 28%.
