OVERVIEW
What CPAIG covers
CPAIG is GAICC’s practitioner credential for people who govern AI systems — not only describe a single standard. The programme runs in three phases: mandatory pre-course self-study, then two teaching days covering global law, technical risk, the AI lifecycle, agentic and generative AI, policy drafting, crisis response and board advisory.
The examination is 80 scenario-based questions (70 scored) in two hours, online AI-proctored, with a scaled pass of 350 on a 100–500 scale. Completing the self-paced course package meets the 28–30 contact hours GAICC require before you sit that exam. You still need the published education-and-experience route that applies to you.

What is the GAICC CPAIG certification?
CPAIG — Certified Professional in AI Governance — is GAICC’s practitioner credential for people who govern AI systems. It covers multi-jurisdictional regulation, technical risk architecture, lifecycle controls, agentic and generative AI, policy drafting and board advisory.
Who is this training for in Malaysia?
GRC, compliance and risk professionals, lawyers, data protection officers, in-house counsel, policy advisors, and risk managers or internal auditors whose work now includes AI systems.
What are the eligibility requirements?
One of: a bachelor’s degree plus three years’ relevant experience; a secondary qualification plus five years; or a master’s degree plus two years. Experience must fall within the last eight years. You also need 28–30 contact hours of structured GAICC CPAIG training. The self-paced course package includes training that meets the hours requirement.
How is the programme structured?
Three phases: mandatory pre-course self-study (10–12 hours), then Day 1 (8 hours) on AI governance foundations and global law, then Day 2 (8 hours) on applied practice and strategic advisory. Total learning is 28–30 hours.
How is the exam set?
Eighty scenario-based multiple-choice questions, of which 70 are scored and 10 are unscored pilots, in two hours on the GAICC online AI-proctored platform. The pass mark is 70% (49 of 70 scored items). Scores are scaled from 100 to 500, with 350 as the passing threshold. There is no negative marking. Results are immediate, with domain-level feedback.
How long is the certification valid, and how do I renew it?
The credential is valid for three years. Renewal requires 60 CPD hours in that cycle (20 professional learning, 20 practical application, 10 contribution and knowledge sharing, 10 elective), then a renewal application and fee.
How many CPD hours will I earn?
You receive 16 CPD/PDU hours on completion of the CPAIG course. Renewal of the credential later requires 60 CPD hours per cycle.
What happens if I do not pass the exam?
GAICC members receive one exam voucher per certification. A further attempt after an unsuccessful first sitting requires the applicable exam fee.
What is the difference between the two packages?
The self-paced course package includes the full video course and everything needed to prepare from scratch. The membership and exam package is for candidates who have already completed the CPAIG programme and only need the examination, membership and supporting resources.
Can I buy the exam package if I have not done the training?
No. Twenty-eight to thirty contact hours of structured GAICC CPAIG training are required before you can sit the examination. If you have not completed it, choose the self-paced course package.
