What the CAPM® certification is?
The Certified Associate in Project Management is PMI's entry-level credential. It is the certification for people who work on projects but do not yet have the years of leading them that the PMP requires — and unlike the PMP, it asks for no project experience at all.
The exam is broader than most candidates expect. Since PMI's 2023 outline it covers four domains, and nearly half the questions sit in business analysis and agile rather than traditional plan-based project management. Candidates who prepare only the fundamentals are usually the ones caught out.
This programme covers all four domains in structured teaching, gives you the 23 contact hours PMI requires before you can apply, and then keeps coaching you through the preparation weeks that follow.

CAPM certification in Malaysia
Is CAPM worth it in Malaysia?
For people early in a project career, yes. It gets a CV past keyword filters that screen for a project management credential, and it signals to an employer that you understand delivery vocabulary before you have led anything. It is not a substitute for experience — it is what you hold while you build it.
Do I need project experience to take the CAPM?
No. That is the main difference from the PMP. You need a secondary school qualification and 23 hours of project management education. Nothing else.
CAPM or PMP — which should I take?
PMP has four education pathways under the 2026 outline: 60 months with secondary education, 48 months with an associate, higher certificate or advanced technical-vocational qualification, 36 months with a bachelor's degree or higher, and 24 months with a PMI GAC-accredited degree. Experience must be leading and directing projects within the last 10 years. If you do not have those hours yet, CAPM is the credential designed for where you are — and holding it satisfies the PMP's 35-hour education requirement later.
How much does CAPM certification cost in Malaysia in total?
Face-to-face training is RM 4,500 early-bird or RM 4,800 standard, nett with no additional SST. Live virtual training is available upon enquiry. Self-paced is USD 149 / USD 179 / USD 199 for 90 / 180 / 365 days' access. The PMI examination fee is USD 180 for members and USD 240 for non-members. An examination and PMI membership bundle is RM 2,000 and includes one year of PMI membership.
Is this course HRD Corp claimable?
Yes. Global Master is a registered HRD Corp training provider and this programme is claimable under SBL-Khas. Your HR team applies through eTRiS before the programme starts, and HRD Corp disburses to us directly. Employer eligibility, approval and timing remain subject to current HRD Corp rules.
How hard is the CAPM exam?
Less demanding than the PMP, but broader than most people expect. 150 questions in 180 minutes, and the difficulty is coverage rather than depth — business analysis and agile together make up nearly half the exam, and they are where under-prepared candidates lose marks.
What score do I need to pass?
PMI does not publish a passing percentage. Scoring is psychometric, and your report shows performance by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.
What happens if I fail?
You have three attempts within a one-year eligibility period. PMI charges a re-examination fee, shown in your PMI account.
How long should I prepare after the course?
An advisor will help you plan preparation after class — speak to our team to talk it through.
Do the 23 contact hours expire?
No. PMI does not put an expiry on the education requirement, so your certificate of completion remains valid for your application.
Does the CAPM count towards the PMP?
Yes. Holding a current CAPM satisfies the PMP's 35-hour project management education requirement, so you would not need to repeat that step. You would still need the project-leadership months on the PMP pathway that matches your education.
How long is CAPM valid?
A CAPM® is valid for three years. You need 15 PDUs in that cycle: at least 9 Education PDUs, at most 6 Giving Back PDUs, and at least 2 PDUs in each Talent Triangle skill area — Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.
Can I sit the CAPM exam online from Malaysia?
Yes. PMI offers online proctored testing alongside Pearson VUE test centres. Online requires a private room, a stable connection and a clear desk.
Is the exam voucher included?
The exam voucher is an optional add-on. You still need PMI to approve your application before you can schedule.
