Choose a PMP training provider by checking whether the training route meets PMI's eligibility requirements, whether the course is aligned with the current PMP examination, who will deliver the training, what practice and learning support are included, and exactly what you are paying for.
Compare verifiable written information rather than relying on claims such as "best provider" or guaranteed pass rates. PMI determines PMP application eligibility and administers the examination; a training provider cannot guarantee application approval or exam success. See the Certification Handbook for certification procedure and integrity rules.
Use the provider scorecardView ProCert PMP training
This guide includes an original scorecard that you can use to evaluate ProCert and any alternative provider using the same criteria. ProCert has a commercial interest in providing PMP training, so its own programme should be assessed using the same standards.
First distinguish the provider from the credential owner
PMP is a PMI credential. ProCert is a professional-certification training brand operated by Global Master Training & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. A course-completion certificate from a provider is not the PMP credential, and an instructor's personal qualification is not the same thing as an organisation's training-partner status. See PMI's PMP certification page and ProCert's about page for the operating relationship.
Ask which legal entity will deliver the course, issue the invoice and provide the completion record.
Check the training rule that applies to your course
PMP applicants need 35 hours of Project Professional training through an eligible route. Self-paced courses may be taken from any organisation, while PMI's 2026 Examination Content Outline states that eligible self-paced on-demand training should include an end-of-course assessment. Practice questions alone should not be treated as evidence of completing the required 35 training hours.
For live instructor-led training, the requirements change on 1 December 2026. From that date, live PMP training, whether delivered in person or virtually, will be eligible only when provided by a PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP), China Registered Education Provider (REP) or eligible accredited higher education programme, including PMI GAC programmes. See PMI's updated training eligibility requirements for the effective-date rules. Training completed before 1 December 2026 remains eligible under the requirements in effect before that date. Self-paced courses are treated separately and may continue to be taken from any organisation under PMI's current requirements.
Before enrolling, obtain written confirmation of the course delivery format, completion date, qualifying training hours and evidence of completion you will receive.
Ask for current 2026 examination alignment
The updated PMP examination has been in use since 9 July 2026. A suitable preparation programme should align with the current People, Process and Business Environment domains and prepare candidates for predictive, adaptive/agile and hybrid project environments. The updated examination also places greater emphasis on areas such as AI, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, value delivery and business impact. See the Examination Content Outline for the current domain scope.
Ask whether the provider's course materials, practice questions and full-length simulations have been updated for the current 2026 PMP examination, rather than simply applying a new date to older materials.
A credible provider should also be able to explain how the programme develops practical judgement around business value, stakeholder decisions, project approaches and real-world scenarios, rather than relying only on a long list of frameworks or terminology.
Evaluate the trainer and feedback model
Check the named trainer for the selected intake, relevant project experience and current credentials claimed. If the trainer is not yet assigned, ask when assignment will be confirmed and what happens if it changes.
Then ask how mistakes are reviewed. Does the class explain why plausible alternatives are weaker? Is there a way to ask questions after the live sessions? Is post-course support scheduled, informal or entirely self-directed? A support promise is more useful when its duration, channel and boundaries are written down.
Do not treat a trainer's many credentials as proof that the actual course is current, that all hours qualify or that every candidate is eligible.
Compare delivery formats honestly
Format | Potential advantage | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
Face to face | Protected class time and direct interaction | Can you attend every required session, and what costs are outside the fee? |
Live virtual | Real-time teaching without commuting | What are the attendance, technology, timetable and recording arrangements? |
Self-paced | Flexible scheduling | Is there eligible assessment and completion evidence, and can you sustain independent study? |
A format is not inherently superior for everyone. Select the one whose practical conditions you can meet. Do not compare a short-access self-paced product with a live supported programme as though only the price differs.
The 100-point provider scorecard
This is an editorial purchasing tool, not an independent accreditation or validated quality ranking. Rate each criterion from 0 to 5: 0 means no usable evidence; 3 means adequate written evidence; 5 means strong, specific evidence that fits your needs. Weighted points equal the weight multiplied by your rating divided by 5.
Criterion | Weight | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
Eligibility and provider-role clarity | 20 | Training route, hours, completion evidence and relevant relationship |
Current examination alignment | 15 | Syllabus and practice mapped to the current ECO |
Trainer suitability | 15 | Assigned person, credentials and relevant experience |
Practice and feedback | 15 | Legitimate questions, explanations and realistic simulations |
Price and inclusions | 10 | Written fee, taxes, access, voucher and exclusions |
Application guidance integrity | 10 | Guidance limited to genuine candidate experience |
Post-course support | 5 | Duration, channel, availability and limits |
Relevant learner evidence | 5 | Programme-specific feedback with clear attribution |
Terms and cancellation | 5 | Refund, rescheduling, substitution and delivery terms |
Total | 100 | Compare evidence, not advertising intensity |
For example, a rating of 4/5 on the 15-point examination-alignment criterion earns 12 points. A high total does not override an integrity failure: exclude a provider that offers fabricated experience, leaked exam questions or guaranteed application approval until the issue is resolved.
Confirm the complete commercial offer
Ask whether the fee includes PMI examination payment or a voucher, and whether the voucher has expiry, eligibility, region or retake conditions. Separate membership, travel, books and optional practice from the course price. PMI certification fees can vary by region and membership status. See the Certification Handbook for pricing conditions.
For ProCert, use the current PMP programme page as the starting point and confirm the written quote for the selected intake. Do not treat an old early-bird date or a general corporate brochure as the final offer.
The PMP cost guide includes a worksheet for comparing total costs rather than headlines.
HRD Corp and employer-funded cohorts
For eligible HRD Corp-registered employers, the PMP training fee and applicable examination fee may be fully claimable through HRD Corp, subject to the employer's available levy, grant approval and current HRD Corp requirements. Professional certification course fees are claimable based on the applicable approved cost, while certification and examination fees may also be claimed in accordance with HRD Corp's allowable-cost requirements.
The employer's HR or L&D team is responsible for submitting the HRD Corp grant application and obtaining approval before the training begins. For public training conducted between 15 June and 31 December 2026, the programme may commence only after 3 days have passed from the grant approval date. Employers should therefore submit their applications early enough to obtain approval at least 3 days before the training commencement date.
From 1 January 2027, the requirement will change to a 14-day advance approval period for public training. This means the HRD Corp grant must be approved at least 14 days before the training commencement date. Employers are therefore encouraged to submit their grant applications well in advance to allow sufficient time for review, approval and any additional documentation that may be required. Confirm current rules on HRD Corp's website before relying on a grant timeline.
Claims that deserve a closer look
A numeric pass rate needs a defined period, sample, denominator, treatment of retakes and a way to verify it. "Exam-like" practice is not the same as access to real examination content. Testimonials should concern the actual programme or be clearly identified as wider provider feedback. A generic "accredited" label should specify the holder, scope and authority behind it.
PMI's handbook describes examination content as confidential and sets integrity requirements. Any offer to provide live or leaked questions should be treated as a serious warning, not a premium inclusion. See the Certification Handbook for examination integrity rules.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose a provider only because it is a PMI Authorized Training Partner?
No. ATP status is important, particularly for live instructor-led training completed on or after 1 December 2026, but it should not be the only consideration. Also assess the trainer's experience, alignment with the current PMP examination, practice resources, learning support, programme inclusions and commercial terms. PMI authorisation does not guarantee application approval or examination success. See PMI's updated training requirements and the Certification Handbook.
Is the cheapest provider necessarily poor?
No. Price alone does not determine training quality or suitability. Compare the complete programme, including the trainer, learning materials, practice resources, support, delivery format and any additional fees, against your own requirements.
Can a provider guarantee a first-attempt pass?
No training provider can guarantee a PMP examination result. A provider may offer its own retake support, additional coaching or commercial guarantee, but PMI controls the examination and determines each candidate's result. See the Certification Handbook for certification procedure.
How should I use this guide?
Compare 2 or 3 genuine training options using the same criteria, identify any unanswered questions and obtain written confirmation of important details before registering. Review ProCert's PMP programme using the same scorecard.
